Allstar
Digital modes like C4FM, DMR, DSTAR are great but can come with a cost attached be it monetary or complexity in setup. There is something to say about using a combination of analog and digital services and the likes of Echolink is a prime example of this. Allstar operates in a similar fashion making it more accessible for those with cheaper or easier to operate radios.
I have setup an Allstar node; a simple gateway on 438.800 CTCSS 118.8Hz. The node is likely to be linked to GB3BN or Brandmeister TG 23529 (via MB7IBK).
It's there for personal use while I am out and about on a dog walk but if you happen to be in Caversham you are welcome to use it to.
